Solved Why does spellchecker in Word 2013 starts all over again?

August 21, 2015 at 01:32:27
Specs: Windows 64
Every time I close a Word 2013 document spellchecker starts all over again from the beginning. Every word I chose to ignore is underlined in red again and I have to do this over and over.

One other way to prevent the spell checker from running:

First, Select all your text
Select Review Tab
In the Proofing section
Select Set Language
In the pop up dialog box
check the box for Do not check spelling or grammar
Spelling errors will not be marked,
even if you have “Check spelling as you type” enabled.
You will not be able to spell-check by running the spelling checker explicitly and this setting will only affect the current document.

Normally you would have to create a macro to run spellcheck when closing an item. Did you do that?

Or are you saying that misspelled words are just staying underlined after you close and reopen the Document?

Instead of ignoring the grammar and spelling on the particular words, you could add them to the Custom Dictionary.

Your question isn't really clear.

If you created a macro, this site should help: http://word.tips.net/T003382_Spell_...

I seem to remember that once you ignored a word it remained ignored at all times. However, since I have upgraded to Word 2013, I have found that when I close a document and re-open it, Spellcheck starts over again at the beginning of the document as if I had never checked it at all. It's very annoying. I create a lot of informational documents in Word and some can be quite long (100+pages). Re-doing spellcheck for the entire document over and over again is quite annoying. I don't want to turn off spellcheck for the document; I need these documents to be quite clean and correct.

I seem to remember that once you ignored a word it remained ignored at all times.

In my 2007 Word, that is only true for the current session.

When you close and reopen Spell Check runs again.

There is an option to Hide Spelling and Grammar errors by document.

In my 2007

In Options, under Proofing, down at the bottom are two check boxes.

Not sure if 2013 is the same.
