What's the role of Outlook Privacy Plugin, exactly?

Hi all,

I'm using old Outlook 2007 - and would like to send/receive encrypted Mails using GPG (Gpg4win), which still basically supports Outlook 2007.

And now I see, there is also a thing called "Outlook Privacy Plugin", which, afaik, doesn't support Outlook 2007 any longer.

Simple question: Is this curious "Outlook Privacy Plugin" a compulsory needed peace of Software for getting Outlook to work with Gpg4win -- or is it just an optional, helpful Addon, somehow simplifying the use of Gpg4win with Outlook? Couldn't find an answer by Google...

If compulsory needed, I will have to switch to another Mail Client, such as Thunderbird, I'm afraid.

Thank you for Information :-)

I know these two link resources, where I don't see the answer to my question:

Is "Outlook Privacy Plugin" indeed indispensably necessary -- or just a neat (but not effectively needed) Outlook tool for User convenience, dealing with Gpg4win?

If you can clarify, please let me know.
Thank you!
