vlookup URGENT HELP NEEDED NOW PLZ

August 24, 2013 at 03:06:00
Specs: Windows Vista
I have 8 sheets with data and 1 master sheet. All the sheets have the same format.
I have a drop down cell with the names in the master sheet and want when i select the name the data of that individual is displayed on the sheet.

I was trying to use vlookup and link them to gather and when i select a name it would use vlookup to perform this task.

Hope this make sense.

In the future, please do not use all caps in your subject line. All caps is the internet equivalent of yelling, and no one likes to be yelled at.

In addition, yelling words like "urgent" and "help needed now" is more likely to delay getting an answer than to speed it up. By yelling at us like that, you are implying that your question is more important than other people's questions and that we should drop what we are doing and help you. Odds are that that is not going to happen. We are all volunteers here and answer questions as quickly as we can - unless we are yelled at. When we are yelled at, we may just wait a little while before we answer.

Proper netiquette is to post your question and wait patiently for an answer. If and when someone has an answer, or if someone needs more information, they will respond.

My apologies, I totally forgot that caps related to yelling and by no means expect anyone to drop what they are doing to attend to my question or believe my question is more important than others who have posted their question.

I appreciate that you are all volunteers and are taking out time of your schedule to respond, once again I will take on board you comment and again my apologies.

I sure know my mother brought me up and was not dragged up.

Thanks

Without knowing more details as to how your sheets are setup, it's hard to answer your question.

You say you have 8 sheets of data. Are you expecting that the VLOOKUP will be able to determine which sheet the data is on? It can't do that by itself...you would need to string a number of VLOOKUP's and IF's together.

Again, without knowing more details about what you are trying to do, we can't offer too much at this point.
