If I have an EXCEL which has:

Column A mentioning illumination status as FL or BL or NL

Column B has sq ft areaI want that Column C should automatically give the value as mentioned below:

If A=FL, then value in C should be B multiply by 10

If A=BL, then value in C should be B multiply by 25

If A=NL, then value in C should be B multiply by 10

Here is a formula: =IF(A1="FL",B1*10,IF(A1="BL",B1*25,IF(A1="NL",B1*10)))

if A1 = FL it will multiply value in C by 10

if A1 = BL it will multiply value in C by 25

if A1 = NL it will multiply value in C by 10

Assuming that A1 will always contain one of the three values mentioned, the formula can be shortened to: =IF(OR(A1="FL",A1="NL"),B1*10,B1*25)

Since FL and NL both result in B1*10, you can OR those conditions instead of checking for them individually.

Since there are only 3 choices to choose from (assumed) then if A1 is not FL or NL, it must be BL. Therefore there is no need to actually check for BL with an IF function.

Thanks, it exactly did what I wanted
