Using values from variable tabs in excel.

March 10, 2011 at 12:32:21
Specs: Windows XP
In column A i have the names of various tabs. In columns C, D & E I need to bring values from certain locations in the tab identified in column A. Is there an easy way to do this?

Thanks

Brad

In column A there are the names of the worksheet tabs. Road_A, Road_B, Road_C, etc. In column C I need the product of cell $C$6 x $C$7 from the worksheet identified in column A, in Column D, i need the value of $D$6 from the worksheet identified in column A, In Column E, i need to sum $B$7 + $B$8 and so on. I need a way to have the worksheet name as a variable so i don't have to manually enter the formula for each worksheet. Hopefully this better explains what i'm trying to do. Thanks

With your sheet tab name in Column A cell 1
try this:

In column C I need the product of cell $C$6 x $C$7 from the worksheet identified in column A,

=INDIRECT($A$1&"!"&"C6")*INDIRECT($A$1&"!"&"C7")

in Column D, i need the value of $D$6 from the worksheet identified in column A,

=INDIRECT($A$1&"!"&"D6")

In Column E, i need to sum $B$7 + $B$8

=INDIRECT($A$1&"!"&"B7")+INDIRECT($A$1&"!"&"B8")
