July 24, 2012 at 14:51:33
Specs: Windows XP
On a excel file, i need to count how many TV's are on the column C "Product", depending on the brand Column "B".
I know i need to use "count if" but i can not determine the calculation depending on the brand.

Many thanks.

Your looking for the =COUNTIFS() function, note the trailing s.

Something like this:

=COUNTIFS(C2:C15,"=TV",B2:B15,"=Sony")

If you are using Excel 2007 or later you can use the COUNTIFS function.

=COUNTIFS(A1:A10,"Brand X",B1:B10,"TV")

If you are using an earlier version, use SUMPRODUCT:

=SUMPRODUCT((A1:A10="Brand X")*(B1:B10="TV"))
