Solved Unable to get UK date format

Specs: Windows XP
UK date format in Excel 2007 - I am using Excel 2007 and have difficulty getting dates in UK format. I have input 01/12/11 in a cell which is formatted as a custom format dd/mm/yy and yet when you type 01/12/11 it comes out as 12/01/11 and if you try to input dates as a string for a month once the 12 is reached it goes back to 1. How do you get round this? Surely if you select English UK format and custome set as I have done it should work but it doesn't. HELP PLEASE

Hi Jennifer
That is the process i would have thought would work but if I do exactly as suggested and type in 1/9/11 for example it comes up as 9/1/11.
This is where my problem lies - any other suggestions?
Thanks for replying thus far.

✔ Best Answer
Have you look at how you have your dates set in the Regional and Language Settings control panel?

That is where the default date and time settings are stored for all Office applications.

Click Here Before Posting Data or VBA Code ---> How To Post Data or Code.

Thanks I went back and checked and for some reason unknown the settings had reverted to English US.
Have sorted that and all is now well. Thanks for your help - much appreciated
