SKU011.CAB not found!

Hey, guys!
Since recently my computer is trying to install some updates and is constantly telling me "Instalation error: file not found". It says that some file (SKU011.CAB) is missing and requires the installation CD (Microsoft Office 2003). I've tried to put the CD with the required software in, but the comp doesn't see the file. (((
Since it's always trying to do the update (and I can't cancell the process), it's impossible to turn my lap-top correctly, only by pushing and holding the TURN On\\Off button.
Please, help my computer! I have no idea what to do, I'm a girl, for me it's too complicated!

Thanks a lot!!

First off, being a girl has nothing to do with it. There are plenty of technically savvy girls just as there are plenty of non-technically oriented boys.

However, everyone, both male and female, should know how to use Google.

Do a Google search on SKU011.CAB and you'll find lots of hits with step-by-step directions on how to eliminate the error. If you can't handle the step-by-step instructions, then find a friend or pay someone to perform the fix for you.

Hey, I do have the required file on my CD, but the lap-top doesn't see it when I try to install.

If I had a friend who could help me, I wouldn't post the request in the Internet, believe me!

It appears to me that you did not do as I suggested.

I'll repeat: "Do a Google search on SKU011.CAB and you'll find lots of hits with step-by-step directions on how to eliminate the error."

Now I'll elaborate by quoting from one of the many sites that give the step-by-step directions, specifically:

Note the portion I highlighted, then please go to that site (or one of the many others you will find via Google) and follow the step by step instructions.

Although Microsoft’s error messages reads "A required installation SKU011.CAB could not be found" and the dialogue box prompts for the location of this file, this is not the underlying cause of the problem, it is just a symptom.

The root of the problem lies within the Window's Registry. Part of the initialization of Microsoft Office, values are pulled out of the registry in order for the application to execute as the user would expect the program to run. When the CDCache is set to a value other than 0, Windows tries to perform a supplemental install that deems to be unnecessary.

Updating the CDCache value in the registry to 0, fixes the issue pertaining to In short, no additional file needs to be downloaded and the next section gives a step by step instruction to update your Microsoft Office CDCache value to 0.

Thank you so much. I've been through all the steps, and I have solved this problem.
But now the comp is asking for another missing file - PRO11.MSI
I have the instalation CD, but it's not an official one. When I put it in, it doesn't help. And I can't find the missing file on the CD (((((
Should I keep looking for the file or it's a symptom again?

Thanks for your help again!
