Solved Setting default Word document style in Windows XP

January 16, 2014 at 10:59:37
Specs: Windows XP
Windows XP defaults to a double spaced style. I want to revert to using the so called "no spacing" style by default. I open up Word, change the style to "no spacing", then click the arrow on the styles ribbon and click "set as default." When I close and re-open Word however, the style is set to "normal." How do I Get the "no spacing" style to stay set as default?

"Windows XP defaults to a double spaced style"
I know of no global XP setting.

Does this happen on everything or did you mean just Word?
If it's only "Word" then what Office version are you using and what font type and size? This also might be of interest:

OK thanks.

I assume the info in the link in #1 didn't help.

Here's another that seems to have worked for some:

As this is really an Office issue I will flag the post to shift it from the XP forum to the Office Software forum. That way the specialists will see it. You will still be able to access this post.

Thanks Derek, even though the link to legal office guru, didn't solve my probelm, it gave me enough info, that I was able to figure out another way to take care of it.
I went to Paragraph & clicked on the icon for line spacing & changed it there. It seems to be working. Thanks again
