Scanned table image into Excel sheet?

Specs: Windows XP
Hello,

I have a scanned table, tif file, that I would like to convert into an Excel sheet in one shot.

I believe that I first need to recognize the characters and then import them into Excel but do you know if a software exists for table concerns?

Thanks,

You will need to process your TIF file through some Optical character recognition software before you will be able to import your data into Excel.

I have used SimpleOCR in the past. It's freeware, and you can download it here:

http://download.cnet.com/SimpleOCR/...

It won't be a one shot deal, but a two step process.
First convert you TIF, then import to Excel.

First convert you TIF, then import to Excel.

...or maybe even 3 steps.

Typically (always in my case) there is some amount of manual entry to fix things that the OCR got wrong.

Posting Tip: Before posting Data or VBA Code, read this How-To.

Hello,

thanks for the tips, I tried but in the end it is way to much work to re-do after the recognition.

Here is one sample, you might have better ideas:

Otherwise I will have to entry the whole cable book...
