Solved SBS 2003 Std: Can I recover a Mailbox from Log files Backup?

Specs: Windows XP, 1,5 GB
Hi Experts

During the process of transferring mail from a users Exchange mailbox to a PST file via outlook, the sent items messages did not copy over to the pst. The machine powered down during the process due to a power outage. When I logged back onto the server and checked the users mailbox, the sent items folder was empty. We have a backup of the exchange log files however.
My questions are:
1. Can I recover the contents of the mailbox from the logs?
2. If yes, how?

Not a situation I'm familiar with... but interesting nonetheless.

This link discusses your scenario (at least in part - way down the main page); as it refers to lost/missing database... Perhaps it may be of some help?

and another...

and this discussion tends to the view I feel is likely - in that unless there is backup of the original database... you may not be successful. However it does also include a few possible options/long shots...

As I say an interesting situation and one I shall follow/watch and hopefully learn a little?

Your situation does highlight the value of backups of (or at least duplicating off the system) anything "critical" - not the least prior to moving it...

✔ Best Answer
No, you cannot. You must have a full database to restore from. For more:
