Saving a new Excel file in MS 2007 I get an error "class not registered". The same happened in Word, but after repair can now save new documents, but not spreadheets.

Thank you for the help. It worked fine. Do I understand well that /regserv , used as described, can be used to set right the registry mistakes for any program where the registry entry have corrupted ?

Correct,

Regsvr is used to register components on your machine, such as .OCX files or DLLs

regserver is used to regsister applications such as exe files, this is why you used the regserver with Excel.exe.

Once the application was reregistered and the corrupted registery entiries were fixed, your excel worked again.

Glad it worked and thank you for letting us know that it did :)
