Solved red lettering underlining text which can't be removed.

June 21, 2013 at 22:08:52
Specs: Windows Vista
I have a document file in Microsoft word starter.
I don't know why but when typing the words automatically turn red with a thick red line underneath
I can't remove the line. when I click on the font which ether deletes the line or adds one to the selected text the red line ether stays under the text or lengthens right across the page to the right of the screen.
I obviously have done something to make this happen but can't work out what.
Any ideas anyone.
Thanks in advance.
Bronwyn

You have probably enabled the "Track Changes" feature without realising it.

You said:

" when I click on the font which ether deletes the line or adds one"

Technically, attributes such as underlining, bold, color, etc. are considered formatting not fonts. A pre-defined combination that includes more than one formatting attribute (e.g. bold and red and underlined) is called a style.

It's possible that you somehow applied a style to your document or section of your document.

Does this happen in all documents or are you having problems with just one document?

Bronwyn,

Since all threads get saved in the archives of this forum, it would be beneficial if you would tell us what the solution was.

This may help others in the future should they face the same issue as you did.

Thanks!
