IN ONE COLUMN I HAVE NUMBERS (A1) I WANT TO MULTIPLY IT BY COLUMN (B1) THAT HAS NUMBERS OR TEXT, WHEN IT MULTIPLY BY TEXT IT GIVE #VALUE!

ERROR AND WHEN I TRIED TO ADD THIS COLUMN (C1)WON'T LET ME.

Although some functions will correctly evaluate cells and ignore text strings, as a general rule for mathematical operations, both cells should have numbers, If your using arithmetic operators, plus sign, minus sign, etc.

try using a function instead=SUM() for addition

=PRODUCT() for multiplication

=QUOTIENT() for divisionMIKE

Hi, You could insert a column between B and C

In the new column C use (in row 1) =VALUE(B1)

Column C will now contain values.

Now do your calculations using columns A and CRegards

Thanks for the help, i have tried both and work well
