Specs: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium, 1.6 GHz / 957 MB
When I click on a PPT file, it automatically launches in Viewer mode, so I am unable to edit or skip around easily. Any ideas how to make the default mode one I can edit?

Assuming these are ppt files that you are opening, and assuming they are not password protected for modifying, and assuming they were not "packaged for CD", try this:

Open any Windows folder
Click on Tools...Folder Options
Click on the File Types tab
Scroll down to the PPT filetype

It should say Microsoft Office PowerPoint under "Opens with:"

If it doesn't, make it so. If it does, I have no other suggestions.

Sorry for the delay - and thanks for the reply. Here's a dumb question - where do I find a Windows folder? I'm on Vista Home Premium.

Sorry, I don't use Vista very often, so I gave the instructions for XP.

Open the Start menu and choose Help and Support. In the search field enter:

file types

On the Vista laptop I just tried the 3rd result was this:

Change the program that opens a type of file.

Read those instructions and see if they help. If not, I don't have any other suggestions.
