Solved opening and closing documents 'too fast'

Specs: Windows XP
I am currently trying to run a macro on Word 2010 but my problem is that the documents are open and close so fast that it can't refresh/delete the Normal.dotm fast enough to keep up with what I am trying to do. The macro than deletes itself and the changes aren't done to the document that are needed. When I had Word 2007 (and 2003), before the document would close it would ask if I wanted to save the changes that the marco made to the documents, now however, it is not asking me that. Is there something I can do to force it to ask me to save the changes, thus slowing the opening and closing down and making the Macro work properly?

I don't know how similar the options menus are in Word 2010 compared to Word 2007, but in Word 2007 there is this setting which may do the trick:

Open Word
Click the Office orb, then "Word options".
Click "Advanced" in the left pane.
Scroll down to the "Save" section.
Put a tick against "Prompt before saving Normal template".
Now click 'OK'

This helps so much.... While I am still having some issues, the real problem of the macro being constantly deleted is now no longer an issue.

The error I am getting is Word cannot open the existing file.(Normal.dotm), know any way to solve this?
