Ooutlook Mail Folder Icon Appearance

Microsoft Outlook 2007
May 10, 2010 at 19:06:46
Specs: Windows XP
Outlook mail. The "Mail Folders" pane. Approx 2 months ago the icons all became distorted, that is they appear as if they have been cropped, top and bottom, so that only a strip (30%?) of the actual con appears.
When Outlook is opened, they are ok, and switch after 30 mins or so. Close, re-open, OK, then 30 min later....
Icons in Contact and Tasks panes have the same issue.
Have avast! anti virus and the hardware environment is unchanged, machine is about 4 yrs old.

Microsoft XP, office 2007.

Create a new Outlook profile, using the same pst file. See if that fixes the issue.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I tried both the copy the profile and create a new one. Neither solved the issue. After 30 minutes or so, the icons were again truncated.

Perhaps you could post a screen shot somewhere.

Right click your Desktop, choose Properties, under the Settings tab change the Color Quality from 32 bit to 16 bit, click Apply/OK. Now go back and change the Color Quality from 16 bit to 32 bit, click Apply/OK then restart your computer. This will rebuild the iconcache.db file and hopefully may correct your icon problem.

Thanks tuf,

reset to 16, applied, reset to 32, applied, shutdown, restarted. Made no difference.

tried again, inserting a shutdown between the resets, no better.

PS, the icons in (for example) file explorer are OK.
