On NEW (blank page), a page number appears. How to delete it? Somehow I managed to insert a page number (19) on the template for a new blank page in MS Word 2010. Even when I select New to start a new page and delete the page numer, the cursor shows that the page number, starting with 19 is still on the bottom of the page. How do I delete this and restore the defaul macro for a new blank page?

I think the problem is related to the template that Word opens with. I haven't got Word 2010 so I cannot say for certain but try doing a search for the 'normal.dot', 'normal.dotx' or 'normal.dotm' files and rename whichever you find (don't delete them, just in case this doesn't work :-) ). When you restart Word it should recreate the normal.dot and you won't have the page numbers.
