Office Excel 2003 Display Problems

Microsoft Office excel 2003
May 14, 2010 at 17:41:17
Specs: Windows XP, 2MB
Some files when I open them form folder they show only a section of a sheet or maybe one sheet even though there are more than one sheet. If I e-mail this to another computer it will open OK on that machine. Also if I e-mail that same file back to my machine I can open the attachment. As soon as I save the file to my folders and try to open the file I have the same problem. It does not happen with all my Excel files just a couple. Does anyone have a solution?

You could try running a Detect & Repair.

On the Task Bar,
Detect & Repair

You may need the install media.

If it only happens with a limited number of your Excel files, then try opening a new blank workbook and copying over the individual worksheets. Save the original with another name and close it and save the new one with the original name.

If it works - it was a corruption in the original file, and then its worth doing the same for the other files that cause problems.

re: If it works - it was a corruption in the original file

And if it doesn't work it could mean that you copied the corruption over to the new workbook - been there...done that!

At that point you might want to copy one sheet at a time until you can determine which sheet is causing the problem.

I've managed to narrow corruption down to single cell by copying smaller and smaller sections of a worksheet until the problem went away. It wasn't fun, but it was a very important file.
