Specs: Windows Vista, 1.862 GHz / 1022 MB
In the little bos around the number (and each of them in all the pages) became shaded in gray. I don't know what I did... Can anybody (Good Samaritan) tell me how to remove such shading?

Are you sure that the boxes aren't "fields"?

Do they print that way? If not, they are fields and are gray so that you'll know that.

I don't know if they are called field or other name....I know it appears when placing <page number> and that they are unwelcome! It appears also in some picture taken with Snipping tools, but not all! I am still navigating in the middle of the ocean... without compass! Please tell me what to do to get rid of this <grey-shading>! I'll be very grateful!

Sorry, I have forgotten one of your questions: No, the printing is normal, that is: the shade does not print.

You didn't answer my question:

Do they print that way?

I'm also not sure what you mean by "I know it appears when placing <page number>"

How are you "placing" the page number?

Since it seems to involve page numbers try this:

Edit...Go To...
Scroll down to Field
In the Drop Down chose Page
Click Next or Previous

If it highlights one of the page numbers and you get the grey box, then it's a Field. Grey shading is the default for how Word lets the user know that it's a Field.

If you don't want the grey boxes, try Tools...Options...View tab...Field shading options. You can choose when (or even if) Fields are shaded.
