Need formula to count between 2 like number in column.

Microsoft Microsoft excel 2007 (pc)
June 8, 2012 at 22:13:14
Specs: Windows XP
This would best be described as a hit skip counter/chart. I want to count the number of times a number is logged in Column A and the difference between the occurrences of the same number. Example: Column E would receive the data pertaining to "0". Repeat entries would be considered as 0 -zero , hit then 1 skip would be 1, hit then skip 9 would be 9 and so on.......

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Will
** * A * ** * E
00 * 0 * 00 * 1

05 * 6 * 05 * 0
06 * 4 * 06 * 0
07 * 7 * 07 * 0
08 * 8 * 08 * 0
09 * 9 * 09 * 1
10 * 8 * 10 * 0

There is no formula that will do what you want. It will require VBA code i.e. a macro.

That said, I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to do. You've posted some example data...why not explain what you are looking for by referring to that example using row numbers to explain your desired results.

BTW...please click on the following line and read the instructions on how to post data in this forum.
