Need Excel (2007) formula to compare values

Specs: Windows Vista
need a formula to calulate if balance is equal to or greater than net income say its approved if not it should say not approved.Not getting it if i could get some help with this it would be great please and thank you.
Just realize dat some thing was missing it should be if approved if the balance is equal to or exceed one half of the net income.not greater ,sorry for the mistake if you could help again dat would be great;

Hi,

If Balance is in cell A1 and Net income is in cell A2 then use this formula in another cell:

=IF(A1>=A2,"It's approved","It's not approved")

The following formula would ensure that you don't get an Approved/Not approved message if one of the required values has not been entered:

=IF(OR(A1="",A2=""),"Waiting for data",IF(A1>=A2,"It's approved","It's not approved"))

Try the formula but its just telling me not approved for all of them even if it should be approved

sorry i found out what the problem is .It should be approved if the balance is equal to or exceeds half of the net income. Could you help me please sorry again

hi,

Just change this part of the formula:

A1>=A2
which is the value in cell A1 is greater than or equal to the value in cell A2
to
A1>=(A2*0.5)
i.e. greater than or equal to half the value in cell A2

I am assuming that you didn't just try Humar's suggestions, but you looked up the IF Function in the Excel Help files (or Googled it) so that you understand why the first one didn't work but the second one does.

You have done that, right?
