my excel 2003 will not highlight

February 5, 2012 at 05:29:39
Specs: Windows 7
hello,
The excel 2003 will not highlight properly. I can't copy or paste. When I click on a cell and drag, it will only grab a few of the cells, even after several attempts. This is a new problem as I had no problems with this same excel program for years. I can't figure out what could be causing this problem. I have opened other texts to see if it was just happening on the current text, however the same thing is happening an all of the texts I have previously created. It seems to be a function problem. I have used the fix it feature and have reinstalled it as well.

Just curious. Have you scanned for any malware/virus since the problem began?

Have you tried a Detect & Repair?

On the Task Bar
Click Help
Click Detect and Repair

See if that helps.

Mike, Thank you for your suggestion. I did try the detect and repair how ever it did not help.

For malware try Malwarebytes, just download and run.

As mentioned, Malwarebytes is very good for identifying some of the "nasties" that can get into a system.

Personally, I use Avast! (free) for an anti-virus application. Hasn't let me down in the 4 years I've used it (but I just ignore all the offers to "upgrade" to the paid-version):

I ran Norton scan and my PC crashed. It has been frustrating but most likely I had some sort of virus. I have not loaded Excel back on yet. I hope the problem has fixed itself. Thank you.
