Solved ms word 2003 - paste options missing; box has been checked

April 1, 2013 at 06:51:20
Specs: Windows XP
When I paste into a word doc, I do not get the 'Paste Options' button. I'm trying to maintain the formatting from a webpage when I copy some text into a word 2003 doc.
I've tried running 'Detect and Repair' from the Help menu, but I still don't see the button.
Any ideas?

Unless I'm mistaken, Word 2003 does not have a Paste Options button, assuming you mean the Paste Options choice available in the Right-Click menu. I believe that started in Word 2007.

In 2003, you can click on Edit and choose Paste Special for a few options.

thanks DerbyDad,
You may be right - I'm not seeing the 'Paste Options' button anywhere, except in the Tools > Options > Edit tab there is checkbox called 'Show Paste Options buttons' (I have it checked). It doesn't seem to do anything though...

The 'Paste Special...' doesn't keep the webpage's formatting (specifically its the font I'm trying to keep).

Actually, the checkbox does do something. Not sure if it will help or not, but look here to see how the Paste Options Button works in 2003.

You're absolutely right! Somehow I was missing that all along - I guess I was expecting to see it in one of the toolbars - or a context menu - I don't know, not some tiny button floating on my document...

Anyway, for whatever reason, the font formatting still doesn't carryover - maybe its the webpage itself that's the problem. Thanks for your help.
