Microsoft Office 95/97 Suite on Windows 7

Specs: Windows 7, 3.2 GHz / 5879 MB
Have a new computer running WIN-7. Loaded my Office 95-97 Office Suite. The programs run; Word, Excel.... But geta error message, " Cannot open file... File format ". I have loaded a Excel Viewer program, but can only open the file as a read only. Is there a way to fix the error of file format so I can work with these files. The files were created on my older computer running XP... of which at the office I still run XP. I would need to "edit" a given file ( work with ) on both systems as the XP will not be upgraded in the near future.

1 - Hover over Business & Home Office of choose Office Suites.
2 - Then in the left hand column choose your version of Windows 7 (32 or 64), then choose Not compatible
