MS Excel launches fine on a network machine but as soon as you go to open a file from a location, the client freezes up and can take over 5 minutes to actually locate and open a file.

When navigating to the same place with Explorer, the files open absolutely fine with barely any delay. This also seems to happen with Powerpoint and Word so assuming it's all MS Apps. Other apps (Wordpad/Notepad/Paint) can browse the same directories with no issue.

Please assist.

1st It's always a good idea to restart your computer when you run into problems with an application.

2nd i'd try the office repair option, and it depends on the version for where you find it. I believe Office 2003 was under "Help" on the menu. And 2007 + is found under the "Office" button (top left), "Excel options">Resources>Diagnose

If that does not fix your issue I'd try re-installing Office as you could have a corrupt or missing DLL. Un-install the re-install
