Match or Index and Match?

Specs: Windows XP
I know Excel ahs to be able to do this.

I have two sheets, Calendar and Sheet 2. Calendar has group calendar data extracted from Outlook. Sheet 2 has dates in row 1 and employee names in column a. For each date that an employee shows busy in Outlook, I want Sheet 2 to indicate that by filling the cell corresponding to the intersection of that employee and that date.

I've tried using ranges to match data on each sheet, e.g. rngLocation&rngStartDate, but I haven't been able to make it work.

I think I want a formula that will query as follows: If the combination of location and start date on sheet 2 = combination of location and start date on Calendar, and if the combination of location and start date on sheet 2 <= combination of location and end date on Calendar:TRUE

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Since I don't know what a "group calendar extract" looks like in Excel, I can't yet offer any assistance.

What is the layout of the Calendar sheet?

Thanks for your response.

When I said 'group calendar extract', I was referring to data exported from an Outlook calendar that shows all activities for a department. This data is exported to Excel, with each activity becoming a row in the speadsheet. The location, start date, end date, etc. appear in columns along the row, completing that record.

I hope that clarifies what I'm working with.
