Make Lync use First Name FIRST!!!

April 6, 2015 at 03:46:41
Specs: W7 Enterprise
At this temp job I am at, they use Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010. They use Lync. Flawed thing it is. I have done research and registry tweaks but can not get it to show the first name first. I want to see John Paul, not Paul, John. I can not think of people's last names and spend time search. I want to scroll in the list my way, the way it works for me. Anyone know if this is possible without access to Exchange server?
Thank you.

I reply as fast as I can, but it could be hours or months. Always busy.

Have you done a Google search on your issue? It seems that many others have had issues with the order of names and it appears that it is related to how Outlook is set up. Here is one example of a thread I found via a Google search.

I don't know anything about Lync so I don't know if that will help, but perhaps reading through some Google results will lead you to an answer.

Derby, thanks for replying. I have done on and off Googling for weeks. I do not recall that article (not in my history) but will gander at it.

Well, they talk about my contacts in my address book, but I have none in an offline or personal one. Just the global one which I can not control.

Been looking into this issue for 6 months.... will keep looking....

Lync uses whatever Address Book gets its information from Active Directory. (ie GAL). So, unless you are a Domain/Enterprise Administrator, you can't change the default order or display names.

Have you contacted the IT Department with your suggestions?

I have but since I am sadly just a contractor, struggling to find real work, they treat us as crap and no care about our comments.
Thanks for the info, I figured it would end up being something on the network end.
