Solved Limit Google forms registration to specific IDs

July 3, 2019 at 09:31:10
Specs: Windows 10
I am in an education sector with many students. I intend to provide a google form that will only allow some sets of students with specified ids to fill the form (the ids given as text in excel). If a student's id is not in my list of ids such student should not be capable of filling such forms.

In this form once a student enters a required id the script will run through the provided excel list then if confirmed the form is enabled for the student to enter the record/information. If not such student is denied access to the form

Is it possible for some one to help me in this regard.

Thank you.

re: "I am in an education sector with many students."

You didn't say how many "many" is or how long your ID's are.

My company uses a 5 character ID and employs over 55,000 people. If I'm not mistaken, the "concatenated ID" method would be limited to less than a tenth of our total employee population.

Excel cells are limited to containing 32,767 characters. Since each ID would be 6 characters long, including the "|" we would be limited to 5461 ID's before Excel would start dropping characters. [6 * 5461 = 32,766]

Granted, there are probably manual work arounds, but I just wanted you to be aware that the simple "drag" technique shown in the video will fail once the string reaches 32,767 characters.
