Solved Is there a drop-down list work-around?

I am using Excel 2010 in compatability mode for Excel 2003. I have a dependent drop-down list that works correctly. When I go to save it, I get "Significant loss of Functionality" message, and when saved, the list no longer works.

In spreadsheet EMP cell B6, I have a drop-down list titled "title" which is composed for four cells: 'blank', CL, HN, and FI.

In spreadsheet REMP cell F10, I have "indirect(emp!b6) which produces the correct down-drop list until saved.

Thank you.

I assume you mean that in REMP!F10 you have a Data Validation list.

Try giving emp!b6 a Name and then refer to that name instead of using emp!b6 inside your INDIRECT function.

A Google search turned that up as a solution and it seemed to work for me.

As much as I don't mind answering questions, you might be able to save yourself some time if you Google your symptoms instead of waiting for an answer in a forum.

Dear DerbyDad03,

Thank you for your response; I did Google before I sent a question to the forum but I was unable to figure out an appropriate response. Your suggestion of using a name worked.

Thank you.
