Inability to make outgoing calls from new computer

Specs: Windows 7
I have been working from home as a telemarketing rep for over 7 years. I no longer work for the same company and have removed their software and voip calling from my computer.

I am trying to get back to my 'old' world of appointment setting by calling prospective clients and suddenly found out that my new computer and my microsoft headset no longer work because i have nowhere to plug my local telephone line in on my computer.

My phone service is from Brighthouse and I understand they have voip services but I still don't know the hardwareand software changes i need to make to make an outgoing call from my computer using my headset and microphone to talk to my caller

If you can suggest a software and/or a hardware change I can obtain I would sincerely appreciate it!

My first suggestion is to call Brighthouse and ask them for the system requirements to use their VOIP service.

In most cases, there should be no need for any additional hardware since the VOIP service will run over your network, be it wired or wireless. All you would need is a internet connection, which I assume you already have.

As far as software, Brighthouse may have their own software or recommendations for software that they are familiar with and could therefore help you set up and support.
