The approach with these sort of issues is to click around and find the option, otherwise try Google. Here's what I found:

That is for Office 2003. You didn't say what version you are using but I expect the procedure is something similar for other versions.

I don't have a copy of Starter edition so cannot say for sure but I would guess that the extra boxes are there for the advertising that you get with the Starter edition so the only way to permanently remove them is to probably buy the full version of use one of the free Office suites like OpenOffice or LibreOffice.

Not certain but I assumed this was about what you got after an initial load of Office (Excel). If so, when you have had enough you remove it, along the lines suggested.
