Specs: Windows 8
I am new to windows 8 and would like to uninstall apache openoffice since some of the word documents that I had are not being read correctly by openoffice. I like the software but it takes too long to open and for some reason it changes the word documents that I have.

One way is to press Windows key + X then select Control Panel from the list.

Then go to Programs and click on the blue writing below that says "Uninstall a program". From then on it will be like previous operating systems.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Thanks, worked great.

Is there another free office suite that would not alter the word docuements that anybody would recommend?

Thanks again.

I did use Apache at one time on XP and Vista but didn't run into it altering Word docs.
I set all the defaults to be MS rather than the Apache ones. It didn't always handle the newer docx (compressed files) properly though.

Can't vouch for it, but Libra Office is another which often gets mentioned and claims to work on Windows 8.

Keep watching for other ideas on here. If nobody chimes in it might be worth raising this as a new question.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Re my #1

Sorry but I missed the even easier option for uninstall.

Press Windows key + X then select Programs and Features from the list.
No need to go via Control Panel.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
