I have a date in Excel I need to change the format

May 7, 2013 at 06:51:40
Specs: Windows 7
It currently shows as 01/13/2013 but I need it to say 13/01/2013 - any ideas?

Just highlighting the column and selecting UK date format or custom format does not work.

In your other post in the Windows 7 forum you responded that the Custom Format did not work.

Are you sure the data is really a DATE, not TEXT that looks like a Date?

Select the cell with the Date and Format it as General or Number.

If it is a real Date you should get a five digit number of 41287
if it is TEXT it will retain the appearance of a date.

I've tried the format and it comes up under General and Number as 40820, 40824, 40825, etc. Does this mean it should be formatted differently?

Does this mean it should be formatted differently?

No, it means that the data are DATES
and the Custom Format of DD/MM/YYYY should have worked.

How are you entering the Dates?

If you have the cell Custom Formatted as above,
when you enter the date as 01 / 13 / 2013
it should convert the date to 13 / 01 / 2013 automatically.
