Hyperlinks won't open in Word.

Specs: Windows 7
Hyperlinks inserted in Word documents either I create or were created by someone else and emailed to me, will no longer open as of a few days ago. They are active websites that can be opened in a browser that I can copy & paste to open. When I clink on a link in a doc it comes up with a new window that says "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." Some links when I click to open just don't do anything even when I do control & click or 'open hyperlink'. This is a personal laptop and I can't think of any changes I may have made that would cause this to happen. Any suggestions?

That error typically occurs after you uninstall Google Chrome. It leaves associations in the registry incorrect. If that applies to you, do this:
1. Re- install Google Chrome

2. Make Google Chrome as the default browser & hyperlinks should open in Chrome.

3. Now set your preferred browser as the default instead of Chrome and hyperlinks should open in that preferred browser.

I tried that but it still didn't work. It must be something else. I did a MSConfig, but I am not knowledgeable enough to know if it is a setting in there was changed that is causing the problem or not. Any other suggestions?
