Solved How to identify duplicate numbers in Excel

Microsoft Excel 2003 (full)
July 12, 2011 at 06:38:15
Specs: Windows XP, 1.0Gb
I have a spreadhsheet that contains 5,200 item numbers in one column where some numbers are used more than once. I need to identify duplicate /triplicate, etc. numbers. I know I can sort the numbers in ascending/descending order and then manually identify the duplicates/triplicates but I need a method that is more reliable.

Thank you.

Try this:

1st – Select your Range of cells, IE A1:A5200
On the Menu Bar:

2nd - Format
3rd - Conditional Formatting
4th – Change “Cell Value is” to “Formula Is”
5th – Enter the formula:

=COUNTIF($A$1:$A$5200,A1)>1

Sub Menu Format :
6th - Patterns
7th - Choose a pretty color
8th - Press OK
