Can the find and replace command help in this some what.

Try this and see if it works:

First, make sure that BOTH the new symbol and the old symbol are available in your document.

With the Find And Replace dialog box open
Select the Replace tab.
Now, select an instance of the symbol you want to find and press CTRL+C.
Next, put your cursor in the Find What: text box and press CTRL+V.
Your doing a simple Copy & Paste of the Find symbol.

Now, select an instance of the symbol you want to use as a replacement and press CTRL+C.
Put your cursor in the Replace With: text box and press CTRL+V.
Again, your doing a simple Copy & Paste of the replace symbol.

Click the Replace All button.

mmcconaghy it doesn't work. I tried it. But it works only if my entire document is in that particular font, i.e. Rupee Fordian. But then i wouldn't ask you for help.

My problem is suppose i change the entire document font, to say Georgia, even that symbol changes to "`". Then i also tried finding the "`" and changing it to that rupee symbol in that font, it don't work. I also tried changing it to Rs. and then into that symbol,it doesn't work. It all depends on the font i guess.

Is there another way? How about the Autocorrect box or i just don't know..... Please help.

It doesn't say anything about replacing a symbol, its only about the font that makes the symbol...
In my post #2 above i have mentioned i have the font, but i cannot find and replace the "Rs." with that font symbol, i am getting this " ` ". Whenever i change the fonts of the entire document and if that symbol also is there in between, it also changes to " ` ". So how do i replace that symbol only.

Sorry, I'm unable to offer any more assistance. I'm using Office 2007 and am unable to duplicate your problem.

Best guess is that you will need a font that recognizes your old symbol as well as the new symbol, that's why I suggested the above web site.

What you could try is, make a copy of your document then install the new font and see if you get real lucky and it changes the old symbol to the new for you.
It's a long shot.

I don't think so.
Can input the new symbol?
If you can not, then how are you going to input the new symbol in autocorrect?
