I'm trying to calculate a 401k plan that shows 40 cents on the dollar up to 8%. How do I do that in MS Excel?

I'm trying to calculate 40 cents for every dollar up to 8% in excel. For an example, my 401k plan matches up salary dollar for dollar up to 6%, but if it's only 40 cents of a dollar, how is that entered into excel? To calculate my example, I would enter 0.06*(Salary amount) How does one have excel calculate 40 cents on a dollar?

Is this what your looking for: A B 1) Salary $100,000.00 2) Percent Match 8% 3) Dollar Amt $8,000.00 4) 5) 40 Cents 40% 6) Total Match $3,200.00In Excel the formula would be:

=(40%*8%)*B1

Does that work for you?
