This is a loooong shot...

Do you know what the file was called?

if so... then possibly using something like recuva may help?

https://www.easeus.com/ad/recover-h...

There is free trial version whch may do all you need.

A tip for the future... as soon as you start a document - name and save it; and before you make changes (formatting etc.) save it afresh. If you feel to, you could save each step with the same name but with a suffix added.

e.g. myfile.doc, then myfile-a.doc, and then myfile-b.doc and so on...

That way you have something to go back to in event of problems.

Whenever I'm creating a serious item I use that routine...

Have you searched for the name of the file - it might have moved somewhere else?

You could also search for the file type (doc or whatever) in case its name changed:

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

If you were in the midst of creating the doc & didn't save/name it at least once, I don't think there's anything to recover.
