How can I put the Word doc icon on my desktop?

Specs: Windows 10
How can i put the word doc icon on my desktop? I already have the word doc but it was removed when i upgraded the Windows 10. I still can work with the Word doc. But I need to go on a recent word doc and open a new doc.

I seem to recall simply using right click on windows desktop to create a shortcut; and navigating to Word itself as the destination?

Not using windows at present however - so can't test the following suggestions; but possibly something in the following may help?

This link has a free download item which appears to do what you want?

Likely others here using windows will drop by and advise further...; so besides checking the above - hang about?

What version of MS Office are you using, or if it is not Microsoft what package are you using?

I don't use Win10 but try this. Find Word on your Start > Programs list, right click on the Word icon & then click "Send to desktop"
