The easiest way is to protect the sheet, although this can introduce other issues related to usability.

The hardest way is to train your users not to change them.

If you'll be more specific as to what you are trying to accomplish, we may have some other suggestions that will land in between those two.

Thanks "DerbyDad03"! I am able to lock restrict/lock the sheets and workbook by identifying the cells I want locked, but I was just wondering if I can lock the colors. I have reports that my subordinates send me and they come up with all different color codes for themselves. By the time it get to me it looks like a color-by-numbers speadsheet. No matter how many times I say keep it cleaan there's always one that forgets. I was trying to prevent that from happening over and over. Thanks anyway!

I'm confused. If you are able to lock the cells you want to protect, why don't you lock/protect the cells with the colors?
