How can I get the actual day in a cell in excel? Is there a function that gets the actual day from the pc?

Try

=Today()

then on the format list (near the centre at the top) select "More Number Formats..." at the bottom of the list, choose "Custom" and type in "dddd" under where it says "type".

Were you looking for today's date? if so previous reply has it. If you were looking for the number of the day of the date such as 15 for august 15th 1964, then you would use the DAY(A1) to get the number assuming that cell A1 contains the date in a valid date format.

if you were looking for the day of the week for june 3rd 2020, then you can use:

=weekday(A1,1)

numbers 1 to 7 will be returned with 1 being sunday and 7 being saturdaycombine this with a choose statement and you can get it to return The day of the week as a text value.

=choose(weekday(A1),"Sunday","Monday","Tuesday","Wednesday","Thursday","Friday","Sunday")*********

Just discovered this and much simpler

=Text(A1,"dddd")
