Solved Functions in Excel 2007

August 23, 2013 at 11:29:20
Specs: Windows 7
=IF(F5<=G5,1) this works but I want to beable to add to this (F5<=H5,2), (F5<=I5,3),(J5<=G5,4), (F5<=K5,5), (F5>=K5,6)

How can I look at each variable in the cells to determine if answer is 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6?
What would be the formula tying each together in one string?

Do you have a typo in your question? All but one of your conditions compares F5 to other cells. However, you have this odd one: (J5<=G5,4)

Assuming that's a typo, you can use a Nested IF where your value_if_false is another IF:

=IF(F5<=G5,1,IF(F5<=H5,2,IF(F5<=I5,3, etc.

Just make sure you close all of your parenthesis at the end.
