Do us a favor. Make believe that you can't see your spreadsheet and have no idea what you are trying to do. In other words, make believe that you are us.

Now go back and read what you posted.

Do you think that you have provided enough information or clarity so that you can understand what you are asking for?

I, for one, have no idea what you mean by "show the link between mulipe gruopings of values".

What do you mean by "link"?

I also don't know what you mean by "serial numbers that are similar".

Similar in what manner? e.g. They are the same length? They start with the same string of numbers? They end with the same string of numbers? What makes them "similar"?

Please be more specific in what you are asking for. Perhaps include some examples of your "groupings" and what you consider to be the "link" between them.

Define what you mean by "similar".

You appear to have missed the main point of my response so I'll try again, this time in bold font:

We can not see your spreadsheet from where we are sitting!

How can we offer any type of suggestion if we don't know what your data looks like or how your data is laid out?

We don't know if the data you are dealing with is in rows, columns, multiple sheets, multiple workbooks, whatever.

We don't know what your data looks like as far as whether it is numerical, text, or some combination of both.

We don't know what your serial numbers look like or how they relate the accounts and/or addresses you mentioned.

We don't know if your addresses are contained in a single cell or split across multiple cells.

In other words we have no idea what type of data we're being asked to help with or how it's laid out.

There is absolutely no way we can offer any suggestions unless you provide us with some specific details related to your data and spreadsheet layout.

Here...let's try this:

Look at the 1st response in this thread:

http://www.computing.net/answers/of...

Notice how there is data laid out as if it's in a spreadsheet. That's what we need.

In addition, once you have posted an example of your data, you'll have to tell us what you expect the answer to be. The data will give us the starting point (A) and the expected answer will give us the end point (B). At that point we can begin to offer suggestions on how you can get from Point A to Point B.

Once again, before you post any data, please click on the following line and read the instructions on how to post data in this forum.
