Formulas in Excel - R1C1 Notation

Microsoft Excel 2007

Specs: Windows XP
I'm using a excel template from a previous year and when I look at the cells with formulas in them - it's shown as SUM(R[-8]C:R[-1]C). Why are my formulas showing this way instead of the usual SUM(A1:A8)???? HELP!!!

From memory as I don't have excel 2007 on this PC, so this may not be quite right!

Go to the Office button (top left) - Select Excel options at bottom.
In the general tab Clear the R1C1 reference style check box.

Edit -
Its in the Formulas Tab (there isn't a general tab)

Hope this helps.
