excel time calculates as number

March 17, 2011 at 11:04:34
Specs: Windows XP
Excel
I put in 10:25 begin time
10:30 end time
the calculation I set up shows a diff of 00:05 minutes it is right

If I put in 10:59 begin time
11:00 end time
the calculation shows a diff of 00:41 minutes.
When the begin time is in one hour and the end time is in another doesn't calculate correctly

How are you doing your calculations?
What is the formula your using?

    A B C
1) 10:25 10:30 0:05
2) 10:25 11:00 0:35

The correct formula should be =B1-A1
The cells in column C should be formatted as TIME

If you do =A2-B2 you get -0:46

Thanks Mike, but that did not work. Use your formula, but make the time

Start Time: 13:59
End time: 14:05

or

Start Time: 09:40
End time 10:10
