Specs: Macintosh OS X
I am trying to find a quick solution to change current display of wide range of numbers in excel displayed as examples: 860,40 / 5.162,40 / 54.194,78. I would like them to be shown as follows: 860.40 / 5,162.40 / 54,194.78 can you point me in the right direction or suggest a formula which I may be able to use to correct this information contained within excel ?

Typically, the decimal and thousands separator are determined by the Regional And Language setting in the Control Panel. Changes made in this control panel are global and will impact all MS Office application and possibly other applications as well.

There are defaults for each setting based on the Region and Language chosen, but certain items can be customized.
