Excel nested IF

June 24, 2010 at 05:17:20
Specs: Windows XP
I am having difficulties with the parentheses in my nested if statement. I need to display one of either 4 text based on values, example Low (between 0 and 7), Medium (8-10), High (11-13) and Very High (14-16).
Help appreciated

If cell A1 contains the value being tested, this set of nested IF's returns your required texts.

The formula first tests for values outside your specified ranges (below 0 or above 16) and returns a blank cell.

=IF(OR(A1<0,A1>16),"",IF(A1<8,"low",IF(A1<11,"medium",IF(A1<14,"high","very high"))))
