Hi All,
I am making an excel sheet for my interest in betting. I need to have a cell where i can put WIN or LOSE ( or click the words WIN/ LOSE) and the sum produces the correct result. In the row I simply have odds * bet (as number and currency), I need to be able to click a win/lose cell to give me my result.

I appreciate any help.

Please read the How To referenced in my signature line and then post some examples of your data and the desired results based on that data.

The How To will explain how to post data in a table format.

betfair lay	decimal odds	bet £	lose	win	win/ loss amount
5%	2.00	£10.00	lose	win
win sum = (odds-1)*bet amount + bet amount, lose sum = nil-bet amount

I don't think your columns lined up correctly, but I'll give it a shot anyway:

1 - Pick a single column where you want to place Win or Lose. Let's say you start in D2.

2 - Select a bunch of cells in Column D and click on Data...Validation...Allow: List

3 - In the Source field enter:

Win, Lose

This will create a Drop Down in each cell with your 2 choices.

4 - In E2 ,enter a formula simliar to this:

=IF(D2="Win", your formula for a Winning bet, IF(D2 = "Lose", your formula for a Losing bet, ""))

When you choose either Win or Lose, the formula will produce the result.

Drag this down as far as you have Drop Downs.
