Microsoft Office excel 2007 - upgrade

Hi guys Got a simple problem, I believe, on excel but just can't seem to get to the bottom of it.

as a starting point I have this formula:

=IF(Sheet1!B17<10,0,IF(Sheet1!B1>=10,1,IF(Sheet1!B1>=20,2)))

basically i have a lot of information that I want to give a value to.

So if a cell is between a certain parameter it will be a certain value.

so below 10 = 0

between 10 and 20 = 1

between 20 and 30 = 2

between 30 and 40 = 3and so on...

any help would be greatly appreciated!

There are two issues with your question: First, your Nested IF:

=IF(Sheet1!B17<10,0,IF(Sheet1!B1>=10,1,IF(Sheet1!B1>=20,2)))

The first condition of this function checks B17, the rest check B1. You said:

Is the B17 a typo or is B17 < 10 actually the first (therefore the highest priority) condition to be checked?

Second:

and so on...What does that mean?

Depending on how many conditions you have to check

anddepending on what version of Excel you are running, there are multiple ways to address your requirements.Give us a little more detail and we can do a better job of helping you.
